Louisiana police must warn about illegal gunfire

Louisiana State Police and municipal police departments must share warnings about firing guns into the air in prohibited public areas. The warnings must explain the dangers and criminal penalties. State Police must use radio, television, and social media announcements and promote relevant telephone hotlines. Information must be shared each year from May 15 through July 5 and November 15 through January 1. State Police may work with the Louisiana Department of Health under the state's Administrative Procedure Act. Activities must use funds allocated for this purpose to public safety, health, or municipal police agencies; no amount is specified.
