Higher registration fees for gas tanker operators

Louisiana replaces the $50 annual gas tanker registration fee with higher fee caps. The cap is $100 from August 1, 2025, through July 31, 2030, and $150 beginning August 1, 2030. These are maximum fees, not fixed charges. The rule covers tankers with a water capacity of at least 1,000 gallons carrying liquefied petroleum gas, including anhydrous ammonia. Before use in Louisiana, these trucks must be registered with the Liquefied Petroleum Gas Commission and their annual fees paid. After payment, the Commission must issue a decal valid for the year issued. It must be permanently attached in a prominent place under Commission rules; dealers cannot deliver gas from vehicles without current decals.
