The law creates a permanent, 14-member Uterine Fibroids Commission within Louisiana’s health department, which provides staff and administrative support. It also addresses polycystic ovary syndrome and endometriosis. Members include health care groups, lawmakers, and two people living with these conditions. The panel reviews programs and state policies, guides research and public health tracking, and recommends changes to state leaders. Public meetings occur at least quarterly unless the schedule changes by vote or the chair. The panel also provides an annual public hearing and opportunities for public comment on publicly funded programs. It must report to legislative health committees at least 60 days before each regular legislative session. Members serve without pay; lawmakers receive legislative daily allowances and travel reimbursement. Other members may receive expense reimbursement under their organization’s rules. The law does not directly change household benefits, taxes, or health coverage.
