New limits on copying voter records

Louisiana makes knowingly, willfully, or intentionally photographing, recording, or otherwise copying voter registration information in precinct registers an election offense. This protects voters’ information but restricts copying those records. Exceptions cover clerks of court, voter registrars, the secretary of state, and their employees while performing official duties. Election day and early voting commissioners are also exempt while performing official duties. The excerpt does not state the penalty amount.
