Paid voting help for nursing home residents

Louisiana registrars of voters can use paid commissioners to help with early voting, including the nursing home voting program. The Secretary of State must approve, and each registrar must state how many commissioners are needed. Registrars select and train the commissioners. Commissioners receive $150 per day of assistance, plus any additional pay allowed under R.S. 18:426.1(B). Each commissioner must take an oath as a deputy registrar for the early voting period and complete a state-prepared affidavit. It must list their name, address, and last four Social Security number digits. It must also acknowledge that confidential voter information in the precinct register or early voting list cannot be disclosed. The registrar’s office keeps the affidavit.
