College spending totals public, athlete payments private

Louisiana colleges must publicly disclose their total spending on athlete revenue-sharing programs each fiscal year. Dollar amounts and percentages paid to specific athletes or allocated to specific sports or athletic programs stay private. Revenue-sharing negotiation records and agreements with specific athletes are confidential and exempt from public records access. Documents athletes give colleges that describe their compensation terms also stay confidential. These rules apply retroactively and going forward, covering existing records and pending disclosure requests as of the effective date.
