School family hiring expands with limits

Louisiana local school boards can hire immediate family members of board members or the superintendent for three job types. These jobs are paraprofessional, custodian, and cafeteria worker. The family member must meet the job requirements, and hiring is not guaranteed. The related board member or superintendent must step aside from decisions about that employee’s promotion or assignment.
