Louisiana environmental agency renewed with sunset date

Beginning June 30, 2026, the law re-creates Louisiana’s Department of Environmental Quality and the entities placed within it by law. Their scheduled shutdown begins July 1, 2030. Their legal authority ends July 1, 2031, unless the department is re-created earlier through the state’s sunset review process. The law also replaces the department’s prior sunset listing and overrides conflicting state sunset rules.
