Earlier tax-assessment deadline for affordable housing owners
Beginning July 1, 2026, New Hampshire requires earlier notice to choose assessment under its low-income housing tax credit program. Taxpayers must notify their municipality by April 15 before the tax year, instead of October 1. The property must be covered by a housing covenant under the program. Written notice must use a form prepared by the New Hampshire Department of Revenue Administration. Property under construction on April 1 of the tax year remains ineligible for this assessment.
