Retirement changes for 28 corrections positions
The law moves 28 listed New Hampshire Department of Corrections positions from Group I to Group II retirement status. These include specified nursing, counseling, teaching, maintenance, program, and supervisory positions, along with other listed jobs. Coverage depends on the exact position listed in the law, not just the job title. The change takes effect 60 days after passage.
Suspended public workers get required updates
Beginning January 1, 2027, New Hampshire public employers must give suspended employees written notice within 7 days of suspension. This applies to suspensions with or without pay. The notice must state the reason and the expected length, if known. Employers must provide status updates every 90 days until a final decision. These rules exclude employees whose collective bargaining agreement under state public employee bargaining law sets disciplinary procedures, including suspension.
