2 provisions identified: 0 benefits, 0 costs, 2 mixed.

Car excise tax based on sale price

Beginning July 1, 2026, Oklahoma bases the motor vehicle excise tax on the actual sales price before any trade-in credit. That price must be within 20% of the average retail value from a guide chosen by Service Oklahoma. The value is set on the date you got ownership or possession, usually the sale or title assignment date. Manufactured homes are excluded. Buyers using a trade-in may pay more tax, and the 20% check can adjust the value up or down.

Bill of sale details needed for title

Beginning July 1, 2026, sellers must list the actual sales price, number of tires, and rim sizes on the bill of sale or a Service Oklahoma form. Service Oklahoma issues the title after it receives the completed form and you pay all taxes and fees. Missing information can delay your title.
