Cities and towns get 30 days to publish ordinances

Beginning November 1, 2026, cities and towns must publish or post most new ordinances within 30 days of passage, not 15. This does not cover ordinances about spending money. Every ordinance still has to be published once in full, unless an existing state-law exception applies. When publishing, the newspaper or official publisher must add a bracketed line that says "Published " with the month, day, and year. This gives local governments and publishers more time but may delay when residents get official notice.
