Electric utilities can't fund gas-to-electric rebates

Rate‑regulated electric utilities cannot use customer‑funded incentives, rebates, or perks to get customers to switch from natural gas to electricity. The ban only covers offers paid for through customer rates or other ratepayer funds. It targets incentives meant to make customers change their fuel source from natural gas to electric. The act sets an effective date of July 1, 2025 and also includes an emergency clause declaring immediate effect upon passage and approval.
