Beginning July 1, 2025, a person convicted under § 43-27-203(b)(2) or (b)(3) must serve jail time and pay a fine. The jail term is at least 48 straight hours and up to 11 months and 29 days in a county jail or workhouse. The fine is at least $500 and up to $2,500. The 48 hours is a mandatory minimum.
Beginning July 1, 2025, stores that sell hemp-derived cannabinoid products cannot sell or give them to customers or employees under 21. Retailers cannot knowingly let employees under 21 access, handle, or sell these products on the store premises. Employees under 21 are barred from handling or selling these products at work.
