The Tennessee Department of Military pays your school if your application is approved. It pays 100% of the maximum resident in-state tuition, plus department-set amounts for undergraduate course fees or master’s program fees. The payment is reduced by other state or federal aid, and that aid is applied to tuition first. The Department posts the fee amounts by August 1 each year for the coming academic year. The law also defines these fee types, including that "mandatory fees" cover parking, technology, and library charges, and that course and program fees are not tuition.
The program now covers up to 130 semester hours, up from 120. The old cap of eight full-time semesters is removed. You are ineligible if you are suspended from federal tuition assistance because of grades or recoupment. You must apply for reimbursement within 45 days after your course ends.
The law deletes Section 49-4-1008 from Tennessee law. If a rule you used relied on that section, it no longer applies. The real-world effect depends on what that deleted section used to require.
