The Tennessee General Assembly can end a state of emergency the Governor declared or extended. Both houses must pass the same joint resolution to do this. The law takes effect when it becomes law. It applies to emergencies declared or extended on or after that date. This change affects how long emergency orders stay in place in Tennessee.
