Beginning July 1, 2025, wine you drink on site at a Tennessee winery is subject to sales tax. Wineries, farm wine producers, and their satellite sites must collect and send that sales tax. These on-site sales, including free or paid tasting samples, are not subject to the state liquor-by-the-drink tax. Sealed bottles sold for you to drink on site also avoid that drink tax, when federal law allows. This applies only to sales allowed for on-premises use at wineries and related sites.
