Beginning July 1, 2025, the state environmental department must waive some compensatory mitigation for certain water-work permits. This applies only when the only reason you cannot use a general permit is impact size (wetland acreage or stream length). The waiver covers only the wetland acreage or stream length that a general permit would not require to mitigate. All other permit rules still apply. This can lower permitting costs for builders, landowners, and farms.
