Chester County $65.35 annual vehicle tax

If you live in Chester County, you pay $65.35 per vehicle each year. Dealer resale vehicles and farm tractors are not taxed. You cannot operate a vehicle in the county without paying. The County Clerk collects the tax, gives you a receipt, and issues a decal. Keep the receipt and place the decal on your license plate. Not paying or not showing the decal is a Class C misdemeanor under Tennessee law. This tax only takes effect after a two-thirds vote of the county legislative body and certification to the Tennessee Secretary of State.
