The law ends the Interstate Compact for Juveniles on June 30, 2034. On that date, Tennessee’s legal authority to use the compact stops. This affects youth who are supervised or transferred across state lines, and their families. The act does not set a replacement process.
Any Tennessee department, commission, board, agency, or council created in calendar year 2032 ends on June 30, 2034. The state may continue, reestablish, or restructure a terminated entity under this chapter’s process. These sunset rules take effect immediately. The act also deletes an older code reference to align with these changes.
