Beginning July 1, 2025, Tennessee treats prostate, breast, and pancreatic cancer as job-related for firefighters. This presumption helps you get workers’ compensation for medical bills and lost wages. To use the presumption for these added cancers, you must get a physical exam after July 1, 2025. The exam must include a cancer screening that shows no evidence of these cancers. Without this post-2025 exam and a negative screen, you cannot use the presumption for them.
