Schools must teach success sequence outcomes

Beginning July 1, 2026, Tennessee law defines the success sequence: earn a high school diploma or equivalency, enter work or college, marry, then have children. Starting with the 2026-2027 school year, public schools must teach the positive personal and societal outcomes tied to this sequence and provide supporting evidence. The requirement applies every school year after 2026-2027. This changes what students learn and does not provide direct funding or payments to families.
