In child sexual exploitation investigations, electronic communications service providers cannot tell an account holder or others about the existence or contents of a warrant or subpoena. They may notify the account holder 90 days after they give the requested records to police under that warrant or subpoena. Police can request one extra delay of up to 30 days, but only if they ask within the first 90 days. This law is in effect now.
