2 provisions identified: 0 benefits, 0 costs, 2 mixed.

Local government workers now under state rules

If you work for a city or county, the same state job rules in this section now apply to you and your employer. The law deletes a prior exemption for local government employees. This can change your workplace rights and what your local employer must follow. The law takes effect immediately.

State blocks stricter local workplace rules

The state now controls job terms and conditions. Cities and counties, and their agencies, cannot require job rules that exceed or conflict with state or federal law. Employers face one set of rules across Tennessee. Workers lose the option for stronger local protections. The law takes effect immediately.
