The law creates the Tennessee Advanced Communications Network in the Department of Safety to run the statewide public safety radio system. The department can set rules for who can use the network. It can charge fees and assessments to support maintenance, daily use, and upgrades. All money from those fees stays with the department and must be used for the radio system. The law takes effect immediately.
