The law adds three terms to medical practice law: clinical informatics, lifestyle medicine, and medical virtualist. These definitions guide licensing and oversight under Title 63. This applies to actions on or after the law’s effective date.
The law says this chapter does not block other licensed healing arts. Dentists, nurses, optometrists, podiatrists, psychologists, and others may keep practicing under Tennessee law. They must follow their own licensing rules. This applies to actions on or after the law’s effective date.
The law makes deciding if a test or treatment is clinically appropriate part of practicing medicine and osteopathic medicine. Doctors and osteopathic physicians can use their clinical judgment to make these calls. This rule does not create a private right to sue. It does not cover nonclinical, ministerial, or administrative tasks. It also does not cover decisions by state employees during contested case proceedings. This applies to actions on or after the law’s effective date.
