Law takes effect immediately

This law takes effect when it becomes law. The hunting rules above apply starting then.

Hunters follow state rules, not local bans

Cities and counties cannot set hunting methods or ban lawful gun use while hunting. The Tennessee Fish and Wildlife Commission sets these rules through its rules and proclamations. When the Commission opens a season, you can use the methods it authorizes, including firing a gun in areas it designates, consistent with Title 70. A city or county can still regulate gunfire by a lawful hunter within 500 feet of school property.
