New rules for animal testing and vaccines

The law defines “monitored disease” and “notifiable disease” using U.S. Department of Agriculture lists. The Tennessee Department of Agriculture may recommend tests or vaccines for animals in the state or brought into the state to protect animal health. The department may order tests or vaccines to detect or treat diseases that USDA lists as monitored or notifiable. Animal owners and handlers must follow these orders when issued. The law takes effect immediately.
