New penalties for fake police and EMS

The law updates crimes for pretending to be police, fire, or emergency medical staff. It creates a new rule that, except as in sub. (2), the listed impersonation acts are a Class I felony. It also says that impersonating a peace officer, fire fighter, an EMS practitioner, or an emergency medical responder, with intent to mislead others, is a Class A misdemeanor. The law uses state definitions for the EMS roles.
