Criminal penalties for threats to health workers

The law makes it a crime to threaten health care workers and their families. It covers current or former providers and anyone who works or worked in a health care facility. The threat must be in response to care or other actions at a health care facility, or to a provider or facility staff doing their job. The person making the threat must know, or should know, the victim’s health care role or family tie. The law uses the state’s existing meanings for “health care facility” and “health care provider.”
