Campground stays not under landlord-tenant law

The landlord-tenant rules in chapter 704 do not apply to people staying at or visiting licensed campgrounds. This does not change rights for people in manufactured or mobile-home communities. It also does not change rights for people who sign a campground contract.

Stronger trespass rules at campgrounds

The law bans entering or staying at a licensed campground without the operator’s consent. The operator can give a written order to leave right away. If you do not leave at once after that order, it is a misdemeanor. You can be fined up to $100, jailed up to 30 days, or both. Police must arrest if they have probable cause you ignored the written order. A campground means one licensed under s. 97.67.
