Grandparent-to-grandchild deeds skip real estate transfer fee
Wisconsin exempts the real estate transfer fee on deeds directly between a grandparent and a grandchild when little or no money is paid. The change takes effect on the law’s effective date and does not cover earlier filings. Transfers that do not meet these rules still pay 30 cents per $100 of value. You still file the real estate transfer return with the county register of deeds.
