Stopping Political Discrimination in Disaster Assistance Act
Sponsored By: Representative Perry, Scott [R-PA-10]
Passed House
Summary
Bars denying federal disaster assistance because of someone's political affiliation. This bill would amend the Stafford Act's nondiscrimination rule to add "political affiliation" to the list of protected characteristics in 42 U.S.C. 5151(a). That means decisions about disaster aid would not be allowed to be based on a person's political views or partisan ties. The change would apply across federal disaster assistance covered by the Stafford Act.
