HR215119th CongressWALLET

Adoption Information Act

Sponsored By: Representative Wittman, Robert J. [R-VA-1]

Introduced

Summary

Directs family-planning programs to give people seeking medical or abortion services detailed regional adoption listings. The bill would require any project or program funded under Title V to provide, when a person asks about medical or abortion services, a pamphlet that lists adoption centers in the region and gives each center's address and phone number and an opportunity to read the pamphlet. The Department of Health and Human Services would prepare, update annually, and distribute the pamphlets to each funded program. Funds to carry out this requirement must come from amounts appropriated for Title V activities.

Adoption information for family planning patients

If enacted, clinics and programs that get certain federal family‑planning grants would need to give you an adoption pamphlet when you ask about medical or abortion services. The pamphlet would list regional adoption centers with addresses and phone numbers. You would be given a chance to read it during your visit. The Department of Health and Human Services would prepare and update the pamphlets each year, and only Title V funds could be used for this requirement.
