HR2569119th Congress

Train Noise and Vibrations Reduction Act of 2025

Sponsored By: Representative Norton, Eleanor Holmes [D-DC-At Large]

In Committee

Summary

Study practical actions to cut train noise and vibrations near homes. This bill would require the Comptroller General to deliver, within one year, a report to Congress that offers recommendations and estimates of the costs and benefits for measures to reduce noise and vibration near residences. The report must consider options including modifications to trains and tracks, changes to maintenance practices, speed limits, buffers and insulation between tracks and homes, required distances, limits on train frequency and car counts, restrictions on hours of operation, and soil condition changes.
