Barriers for homes near rail lines

If enacted, this bill would create a federal grant program for barriers next to rail lines by homes. The Transportation Secretary would have to set it up within 180 days after enactment. States and local public agencies could apply. Amtrak and some smaller railroads could also apply, or partner with governments. Money could only build barriers between the tracks and nearby homes to cut noise, vibration, and derailment damage. The bill would authorize $100 million each year for fiscal years 2026 through 2030. If you live next to a rail line, your area could get a barrier that reduces noise and risk.
