Semiquincentennial Congressional Time Capsule Act

Creates a Semiquincentennial Congressional Time Capsule and sets rules for its contents, construction, burial, and unsealing. The bill would designate the Architect of the Capitol to prepare a capsule called the Semiquincentennial Congressional Time Capsule with contents chosen jointly by the Offices of the Speaker and the House Minority Leader and the Offices of the Senate Majority and Minority Leaders. Required items include a single joint letter and coins minted by the Secretary of the Treasury and any other jointly approved items made of durable materials such as metal or archival paper. The capsule must fit within 50 inches wide by 32 inches deep by 48 inches high. The Architect would seal and bury it in the Capitol Visitor Center by July 4, 2026 with approval of the Senate Committee on Rules and Administration and the House Committee on Administration, install an informational plaque, and keep it sealed until July 4, 2276 when the Speaker would present it to the 244th Congress for preservation or use decisions.
