More job choice for disabled adults
This bill would change rules about subminimum-wage work for adults with disabilities. It would say an individual's choice to accept a job with a covered employer counts toward the law's requirement. It would change two age references in the law. '24 or younger' would become '18 or older' and a separate '24' reference would become '17'. An employer could meet the counseling/referral requirement if the employer documents repeated attempts to contact the State unit at the required intervals and the State unit fails to provide the counseling after those attempts. If that documentation is made while the person already works for the employer, copies would have to be made available to the employer. These changes would apply to employment on or after the date of enactment.
