Higher burial payment for veterans
This bill would raise the VA burial and funeral payment for deaths from a service-connected disability from $2,000 to $3,000. If you are the family or estate of an eligible veteran, you would receive the $3,000 one-time payment when the death qualifies under VA rules. Each fiscal year, the VA would increase that amount by the percentage the Consumer Price Index (all items, United States city average) for the 12-month period ending June 30 before the fiscal year rose compared to the prior 12-month period. Each annual increase would be rounded to the nearest dollar and apply in the fiscal year when the calculation is made.
