Summary
Would set annual funding for the John H. Chafee Foster Care Program at $163 million to support youth transitioning out of foster care. It would amend Section 477(h)(1) of the Social Security Act to replace prior references to $140 million (or $143 million beginning in fiscal year 2020) with a fixed $163 million for each fiscal year, effective October 1, 2026 and applying to fiscal years beginning in 2027. *Would create an ongoing federal funding commitment of $163 million per year for the Chafee program starting in fiscal year 2027.*
