Recognizing the contributions made to the United States by the Indian American diaspora and condemning recent acts of racism against Indian Americans.
Sponsored By: Representative Suozzi, Thomas R. [D-NY-3]
Introduced
Summary
Condemns hate and recognizes the contributions of Indian Americans. The resolution would affirm U.S.–India people-to-people ties and note a U.S. Indian diaspora of about 5.2 million people. It would highlight that roughly 77 percent of Americans of Indian heritage attain college degrees and serve across public life as elected officials, doctors, nurses, judges, teachers, diplomats, business leaders, and members of the Armed Forces. It would also condemn rising online anti-Indian and anti-Hindu sentiment and a reported doubling of harassment incidents targeting South Asians.
