Became Law
This law names the VA clinic at 2075 South NM Highway 602 in Gallup, New Mexico the Hiroshi “Hershey” Miyamura VA Clinic to honor his military heroism and community service. Hiroshi Miyamura was born in Gallup in 1925 and was a second‑generation Japanese American who served with the highly decorated 442nd Infantry Regiment. He was recalled for the Korean War, covered his company’s withdrawal during combat on April 24–25, 1951, was severely wounded and captured, and later received the Medal of Honor from President Eisenhower. After his service he ran a Route 66 service station and remained active advocating for veterans. The law also makes the new name the official reference for the clinic in all federal laws and records.
