    Filter media production

    Activated carbon manufactured from coconut shell, coal, or wood via carbonization and steam/CO₂ activation at 800-1000°C; reverse osmosis membranes synthesized by interfacial polymerization of m-phenylenediamine and trimesoyl chloride on polysulfone support; ion exchange resins polymerized from styrene-DVB with sulfonation or amination.

    Membrane element fabrication

    RO membranes wound into spiral-wound elements (flat sheet wrapped around permeate tube with feed spacers); ultrafiltration membranes spun as hollow fibers (PVDF or polysulfone extruded through spinneret into bore fluid); ceramic filter elements pressed and sintered from alumina or diatomite.

    Filter housing and manifold manufacturing

    Polypropylene or stainless steel housings injection-molded or fabricated; NSF 61 certification required for all materials contacting potable water; quick-connect fittings, bypass valves, and pressure vessels manufactured to NSF/ANSI 42, 44, 53, or 58 standards depending on filter type.

    System assembly and testing

    Media loaded into certified housings; RO systems assembled with membrane elements, pressure vessels, pre-filters (sediment, carbon), post-filter, and pressure-reducing valve; UV systems integrated with ballast and quartz sleeves; 100% pressure and flow testing per ANSI/NSF standards.

    NSF/ANSI certification and QC

    NSF International certifies filter systems against claims (NSF 42: aesthetics; NSF 53: health effects including lead; NSF 58: reverse osmosis; NSF 244: UV); ongoing annual testing required; replacement cartridges must maintain independent NSF certification.

    Distribution and retail

    Household systems distributed through home improvement (Lowe's, Home Depot), mass market (Walmart, Target), and direct-to-consumer channels; replacement cartridge revenue model creates recurring revenue; commercial/municipal systems sold via specification, distributor, and direct sales channels.
